Jubilee calendar now available

Your rights as a recipient of Jubilee Community Care services is very important to us. At all stages of the client relationship we aim to uphold your entitlements as detailed in the Federal Government’s Charter of Aged Care Rights.

The Charter, available in numerous languages, outlines your rights as an aged care consumer and how you can exercise them. It also includes some information about your responsibilities as a Brisbane aged care consumer.

These rights include the right to:
1. safe and high quality care and services;
2. be treated with dignity and respect;
3. have your identity, culture and diversity valued and supported;
4. live without abuse and neglect;
5. be informed about your care and services in a way you understand;
6. access all information about yourself, including information about your rights, care and services;
7. have control over and make choices about your care, and personal and social life, including where the choices involve personal risk;
8. have control over, and make decisions about, the personal aspects of your daily life, financial affairs and possessions;
9. your independence;
10. be listened to and understood;
11. have a person of your choice, including an aged care advocate, support you or speak on your behalf;
12. complain free from reprisal, and to have your complaints dealt with fairly and promptly;
13. personal privacy and to have your personal information protected;
14. exercise your rights without it adversely affecting the way you are treated.

Are you aware of the changes to the eligibility requirements surrounding the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC)? The income test changes were made in late 2022 and mean someone who previously did not qualify for the card might now be able to get one.

You can receive a card if you are of Age Pension age; meet residence rules; you are not be getting a payment from Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs; you provide a Tax File Number or be exempt from doing so; you meet identity requirements; and meet the income test.

New limits apply to the income test with applicants now needing to earn less than $90,000 a year if you’re single; $144,000 a year for couples; or $180,000 a year for couples separated by illness, respite care or prison. There is no assets test.

The benefits of the CSHC include cheaper medicine under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, potential access to bulk-billed doctor visits; and a refund for medical costs when you reach the Medicare Safety Net.
