For more than 30 years Jubilee Community Care has provided professional and respected care to the elderly in their homes. And that is set to continue for many years to come. But at Jubilee we recognise that times, as Bob Dylan says, the times they are a-changin’! And so we have introduced a suite of online services to complement the care Jubilee’s wonderful support workers offer in-person.
Jubilee has partnered with respected local businesses to bring you engaging educational services based around topics of interest to seniors. All of the services are designed to keep you active and healthy, and to improve your general sense of wellbeing. They are also a great way to stay connected in your community with the chance to grow new friendships.
All you need to take part is a computer, tablet or smartphone. Once you have registered for a service you will be emailed all of the details you need to take part in the online sessions. These services are open to both Jubilee Community Care clients as well as seniors in the community.
The number and variety of online services is expected to grow in the coming months so keep an eye out for new offerings.
With Brisbane author and arts therapist Fiona Ware: The online workshops encourage participants to unleash their creativity and start writing about their lives – a powerful tool to acknowledge who we are, where we have come from and what we’ve learnt along the way. There will be time at the end of each session to discuss the day’s content and build new friendships if you wish to stay online.
A course for new participants will run online each Wednesday from April 7 to May 26, 2021.
Existing participants can continue in a second course on Mondays from April 5 to May 24, 2021.
To register phone 3871 3220 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
With partner Conscious Beginnings: Join online mindfulness sessions and learn effective strategies to improve your wellbeing, reduce stress and enjoy life to the fullest. Key topics to be discussed include a definition of mindfulness, its key principles and scientifically proven benefits; understanding and managing stress effectively; finding meaning in life and dealing with isolation/loneliness; wellness habits for better sleep; and group discussions. There will be time at the end of each session to discuss the day’s content and build new friendships if you wish to stay online.
This course forms part of Jubilee Community Care’s Stay Connected program. Find out more about the program and its other activities here.
The course is from 10am – 11.30am each Thursday from March 4 to April 22, 2021. To register phone 3871 3220 or email email@example.com
With partner Bodytrack Exercise Physiology: This gentle physical activity program is suitable for anyone who hasn’t exercised in a while or those wanting a low-to-moderate intensity exercise regime run by accredited professionals. There will be time at the end of each class to discuss the day’s content and build new friendships if you wish to stay online.
