Technology in Aged Care

Jubilee Community Care can provide leading-edge technology to assist you to remain in your own home, independent and safe in the knowledge that help is available at the touch of a button, should it be needed.

Recent advances in technology mean that there are alarms and GPS sensors that can detect falls and your exact location should you need help.  We ensure that we are aware of new technologies as they become available and can advise and assist you to select the right devices for your needs.

Some examples are as follows:

PERSONAL ALARMS AND MONITORING

A personal alarm allows you and your loved-ones to feel confident about your decision to remain living at home. The alarm system consists of a base alarm, which is connected to your home phone, and a mobile pendant. The alarm is linked to a 24/7 Response Centre staffed by trained and quick-thinking operators capable of addressing any home emergency or problem.

The base alarm has a highly sensitive microphone and amplifier, which enables you and a response operator to speak with each other, even from separate rooms.

The pendant is lightweight and can be worn as a necklace or clipped to clothes. It works from up to 50 metres away from the base alarm. This means you can be outside checking the mail, working in the next room or in the garden and get help. Pendants are durable and water resistant and should be worn at all times – even in the shower.

With a personal alarm, help with any personal emergency, big or small, is only one button away. Simply press the red button on your pendant or base alarm and you are instantly connected with a real person ready to respond to your emergency.

Purchasing or hiring a personal alarm includes:

  • procurement of the alarm system
  • assistance with installation
  • 24 hour emergency response
  • nomination of emergency contacts or special response requests
  • supported daily testing for the first week and monthly reminders thereafter

TELECARE ‘SMART HOME’ TECHNOLOGIES

Telecare Smart Home Technologies provides assistive technology products to support people with a wide variety of care needs to live safely and independently in their own home. The monitoring system consists of a Base Monitor and a range of care and environmental sensors that can assist in managing risks associated with an individual’s health and home environment.

A range of Telecare sensors monitor risks, hazards and environmental conditions, triggering a call to the response centre or designated carer if assistance is required. The Response Centre is staffed by trained and quick-thinking operators capable of addressing any home emergency or problem 24/7.

Telecare Smart Home products include emergency pendants, movement sensors, door, bed and chair occupancy sensors, reminder calls, smoke, gas, flood and temperature extreme sensors. The technology can provide peace of mind for people and families that face risks of falls, living alone, diabetes, dementia, epilepsy, chronic disease, physical disability and post hospitalisation care.

TELEHEALTH MONITORING

Telehealth Monitoring Solutions provides support to those living with long term conditions, including Chronic Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), diabetes, and hypertension, to help them continue living independently and better understand their health care, therefore improving their health and lifestyle.

The Telehealth monitors are simple to use, and allow people to monitor their vital signs daily using common devices such as weight scales, blood pressure monitors, blood glucose monitors, and peak flow meters. The daily readings are taken by the client and the information is automatically sent through to Jubilee Community Care. This data can be accessed securely by clinical health professionals to make informed decisions about the client’s health and well-being.
