SUMMARY:Stay Standing Program
DESCRIPTION:Jubilee Community Care offers the only accredited falls-prevention program in Australia – the Stay Standing program. This eight-week course has been specially designed to be results driven and focuses on strategies to help reduce the risk of falls\, giving you more confidence to keep living the way you want to. It includes a home program of exercises based on the Otago Exercise Program. \nThe program consists of group sessions held on a Friday over eight weeks for 2.5 to 3 hours depending on the presentation. It includes structured exercises to improve strength and balance\, and presentations from allied health specialists as well as delicious morning teas.\nYou will have an assessment in the first and last weeks so that you can see how you’ve improved with the knowledge that you gain during this course. Don’t let the fear of falling hold you back! Stay Standing with us! \nThe next program will be on Fridays from 10am-1pm from April 13 to June 1 at Centenary Community Hub\, 171 Dandenong Rd\, Mount Ommaney. SUMMARY:Dementia Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Jubilee Community Care continues its free monthly support groups for carers and people dealing with dementia\, with a group starting at Centenary Community Hub on March 6. \nDementia is a chronic or persistent disorder with a range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. It is a tough topic of conversation and can be isolating for carers. \nThe dementia support sessions will cover educational topics such as communicating with dementia\, understanding dementia in its many forms\, supporting your loved one in daily activities\, how to be supportive and where to find support\, questions and answer sessions as well as networking with people in the same situation and experts in the field of dementia. \nThe first support session will be held at Centenary Community Hub’s Endeavour Room\, 171 Dandenong Rd\, Mount Ommaney on Tuesday\, March 6\, from 9.15am-11am.\nThe group will continue on Tuesdays at the same time on April 10\, May 8\, June 5 and July 3. \nIf you or someone you know may find these sessions helpful\, please RSVP to reserve your spot by emailing Jubilee Community Care at admin@jccagedcare.org.au or calling 07 3871 3220.
