Stay Standing falls prevention program

Jubilee Community Care’s popular Stay Standing program will recommence in October at Ashgrove Golf Club. It will begin on October 9.

Stay Standing sessions are held on Fridays for eight weeks and each one includes exercises, presentations from allied health specialists and morning teas. A program of exercises also is included for you to run through at home.

Program topics covered include:
♦ Assessment with physiotherapists Monique or Dean and a home program of exercises to prevent falls, delivered in week one.
♦ Falls contingency planning, SMART goals and managing chronic pain.
♦ Managing continence with a nurse and Healthy Bones with a dietician.
♦ Safety at home with an occupational therapist, Vision with an optometrist and Hearing with an audiologist.
♦ Footwear to stay safe and comfortable on your feet with a podiatrist and Safety away from home with the Queensland Police Service.
♦ Managing medication and sleep with a pharmacist.
♦ First Aid including recognising common senior emergencies.
♦ Exercise review and outcomes and a celebration in the final week.

The next Stay Standing program will begin at Ashgrove Golf Club, 863 Waterworks Rd, The Gap, on Friday, October 9 from 10am-12.30pm. The program will continue weekly until November 27. Find out more or book your place by phoning Jubilee Community Care on 3871 3220.
