Tell us a bit about yourself.
I moved to Australia from New Zealand 9 years ago for a change of pace and have never looked back – I enjoy the warmer climate, getting out and about exploring new places with my partner and our 2 cavoodles.
What do you love about working at Jubilee?
As Jubilee is a small community based organisation, we are able to develop a more personal relationship with our staff and clients, which means that we can communicate freely, and assist clients in gaining the right aged care services with the right people at the right time. Unlike larger organisations around Brisbane, at Jubilee no-one is just a “number”. We have a small tight-knit office team so it’s like working within a family.
How would you describe your role?
Scheduling is like putting a multi-layered 3D puzzle together, with the pieces changing on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis – you need to take into account all factors ranging from client needs, time/day preference, gender, personality type and location of service, and then match that with our Support Workers skill level, availability, gender, personality type, and location. It can be both extraordinarily difficult and rewarding all at the same time, and the positive feedback we receive from clients when we get it right makes the hard times worth the effort.
What’s something that makes you smile?
New Zealand beating Australia in any sport related event (still a very patriotic kiwi girl).
What’s something you’ve learned working for Jubilee?
That it is possible to have a work/life balance, and that being at work can be an enjoyable experience rather than being stressed on a daily basis.
Which do you like more sweet or savoury?
Savoury all the way – excluding those random sweet cravings which come along sporadically.
